A creative thinker and born storyteller, Derek has a deep love of Irish history & culture, with a particular interest in Dublin’s literary side.
Derek can cover everything a visitor would wish to spend time on. Above and beyond the street-level sites, he can also take you into the National Gallery, Museum of Archeology, Dublin Castle, Chester Beatty, and St. Audeoen’s Church.
Dublin is of course a UNESCO City of Literature, and Derek’s literary enthusiasm covers the works of some of the world’s greatest writers. He has also created tours based on James Joyce’s epic novel Ulysses, for those with a particular interest in diving in deeper into the works of the 20th century’s most influential wordsmith.
When not touring he has travelled extensively on five continents, including nights spend outdoors in deserts and jungles.
He has recently returned to academia, completing a BA in Media Studies and French, followed by an MA in Social Media Communications.
And at home, he is also a father to a 16-year old son.
As required, he can provide all manner of insight into Dublin’s cultural life, including tickets for museums & galleries, book and film recommendations, and night life. Private transport can be arranged in and around Dublin, and all throughout the country.
