An American who fell deeply in love with Georgian culture, history, landscapes, and language who is passionate about sharing all of this with others, Timothy prides himself on his exceptional knowledge of obscure and off-the-beaten path secrets.
He offers a thoughtful and insightful slow-travel look into the rich and nuanced tapestry of Georgian culture.
Living in Georgia on and off since 2009, and permanently since 2019, Timothy’s guiding grew organically, beginning with informal tours around the country, and the personal charm of him accompanying you in the manner of an incredibly knowledgable friend remains a pillar of his approach.
His trips cover an immense range of topics, blending Christian and medieval historical and cultural sites, with ethnic and religious minorities and bits of Soviet heritage, and weaving food, wine, and cultural experiences throughout. While he is not an archeologist, a biologist, or a historian, in some ways that has allowed him to build a much broader knowledge base than many who focus exclusively on one subject.
As a result, these are topics he explores with the same passion that informs everything he does, and his tours frequently explore nature reserves, monuments, and local museums under his expert guidance.

When not guiding, you will find that Timothy is a born explorer. Upon his return to Georgian in 2019, he set about getting to all the little places he’d not yet experienced. And so he walked from Tbilisi to the Black Sea, without getting in a single car along the way. He intentionally took the most curving, convoluted route he could, up and down over mountains, in and out of valleys on the most obscure paths there were to be had.
It took two months of walking - sometimes sleeping in a tent, and often getting invited in by the hospitable villagers as he passed by. It remains one of the most precious and beautiful experiences of his life.
He also works as an amateur filmmaker, and is releasing a book of poetry.
